Hamilton School Professors James Hankins and Allen Guelzo Discuss The Golden Thread on ‘Voices of Freedom’
Hamilton School Professors of Humanities James Hankins and Allen Guelzo recently joined the Bradley Foundation’s Voices of Freedom podcast to discuss their new two-volume work, The Golden Thread: A History of the Western Tradition.
The project brings together decades of scholarship and a friendship that began when Hankins and Guelzo were boys. Spanning more than 2,000 pages, The Golden Thread traces the Western tradition from ancient Greece to the present, with Hankins authoring Volume I and Guelzo Volume II.
In the episode, the two scholars discuss the ideas that have shaped Western civilization, America’s place in that tradition as the nation marks its 250th anniversary, the character required to sustain a free society and their hopes for the next generation.
