Hamilton’s Dr. Yujie LI Receives 2026 Rothman Faculty Summer Fellowship

Dr. Yujie Li, Assistant Professor of Humanities at the Hamilton School for Classical and Civic Education, has been awarded the 2026 Rothman Faculty Summer Fellowship from the University of Florida’s Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere.

The fellowship supports faculty research in the humanities and will help Dr. Li advance her book manuscript, The Foolish Man Moves the Mountains: Labor and Technology in Maoist China, 1949–1979. Her project examines how human and animal labor shaped socialist development in China and influenced the country’s long-term economic trajectory.

With support from the fellowship, Dr. Li will complete a key chapter analyzing China’s experiments in labor management and agricultural technology during the 1950s.

Dr. Li’s research reflects the Hamilton School’s commitment to rigorous scholarship and global historical inquiry.

Congratulations, Dr. Li!
