Eliot A. Cohen is the Arleigh Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and professor emeritus at Johns Hopkins University, where he taught for 34 years and served as dean of the School of Advanced International Studies. In addition to serving in the Department of Defense’s Policy Planning Staff he was Counselor of the Department of State in 2007-2009. He is the author of The Hollow Crown (2023), The Big Stick (2017), Conquered into Liberty (2011), and Supreme Command (2002) among other books. He is published widely in a variety of journals and is a contributing writer at The Atlantic. His next book, The Strategist’s Catechism will be published by Princeton University Press.
